[Expired] Thisisby.us Has Been Closed. No More “Get Paid To Write”

That was my early review about Thisisby.us, the website, which was paying users to write online.

Why not get you opinions out and get paid for it?

Thisisby.us is a writing community where anyone can submit their original works and get cash rewards for their work. These can be articles, opinions, how-to’s, or just general musings on just about any subject. The 50% of the advertising revenue of the site goes to the writers (this means you). Readers of the site vote on which content they like the most, and more popular writers will receive a higher portion of the revenue. An
additional 10% of the advertising revenue goes to those who sign up and comment on the articles.

After checking this website again, I’ve found the sad note from the admins ( Bill and Elle Dee)

thisisby.us has discontinued operation as of February 1 2009.

thisisby.us has thrived as a writing community since its launch in the Spring of 2006. We have seen over 50,000 posts by over 15,000 different writers, numerous (self-organized) meet-ups around the country, and dozens of features on some of the Internet’s most popular websites.

Sadly, thisisby.us could not be economically sustained. Though the site attracted a base of dedicated writers, the advertising market that caters to writers is neither large nor fast-growing; even given alternative business models, we could not afford the maintenance and labor required to sustain TIBU.

I think that global crisis has now struck Internet. More and more websites are scamming people or just closing their business. Hopefully there’d be more and more websites like Thisisby.us in the future.
